Question 1

How are the fee ranges on this site determined?

Accepted Answer

The ranges on this site show typical Florida attorney fees for each case type. They are drawn from Ahmad Yakzan's own caseload and checked against current Florida market data. A range shows what cases of that type usually cost, not a price for your case. Every case has variables that only a direct review can resolve, so the fee for your own case is set after a paid consultation.

Question 2

Are these fee ranges guaranteed?

Accepted Answer

No. The ranges are a starting point to help you budget and compare — not a quote or binding commitment. They reflect what cases of each type typically cost in the Tampa Bay and broader Florida market. A firm fee is determined only after a paid consultation, full review of your specific facts, and execution of a written engagement agreement.

Question 3

Do fees include USCIS or court filing fees?

Accepted Answer

No. The attorney fee ranges on this site cover attorney fees only. Government filing fees — such as USCIS form fees, immigration court fees, or federal court filing fees — are separate costs, and current USCIS filing fees are listed on their own page. USCIS fee schedules change periodically; check uscis.gov for current amounts. Ahmad will itemize all expected costs during your consultation.

Question 4

Why do two similar cases have different fees?

Accepted Answer

Even cases that look the same on the surface can differ dramatically in the legal work required. Variables include prior immigration violations, criminal history, number of family members affected, the specific immigration court or USCIS service center handling the case, the strength of available legal arguments, and whether appeals or federal court filings are needed.

Question 5

What does "complexity" mean for my case?

Accepted Answer

Complexity reflects how much attorney time and legal strategy your case is likely to require. A straightforward naturalization or family petition may need a few hours of preparation. A removal defense case with criminal history, prior orders, or novel legal issues can require hundreds of hours across hearings, briefs, and appeals. Ahmad assesses the complexity of your case during the paid consultation, after reviewing your facts and documents.

Question 6

Do you charge for the initial consultation?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Ahmad Yakzan does not offer free consultations. A paid consultation fee applies. This ensures that each meeting is a substantive legal session — not a sales call — where Ahmad reviews your documents, analyzes your situation, and provides real legal guidance. The consultation fee is credited toward the retainer if you decide to hire Ahmad.

Question 7

Do you offer payment plans?

Accepted Answer

Ahmad's office offers payment plans for many case types. The specifics — deposit amount, installment schedule, and total fee — are discussed and agreed upon during the paid consultation before any representation begins. Be open about your budget during the consultation so options can be structured around your situation.

Question 8

What is included in the attorney fee?

Accepted Answer

Attorney fees generally cover legal strategy, document preparation, filing, client communication, hearing representation, and post-hearing work through the scope defined in your engagement agreement. They do not include government filing fees, interpreter fees, translation costs, travel expenses to distant courts, or expert witness fees unless specifically stated.

Question 9

What happens if my case takes longer than expected?

Accepted Answer

The scope of representation and fee structure are defined in the written engagement agreement before work begins. If your case develops unexpected complexity — a new criminal charge, a remand from the BIA, or a federal court petition — Ahmad will discuss the additional scope and any fee adjustment with you before proceeding. There are no surprise bills mid-case.

Question 10

Why are immigration fees so varied?

Accepted Answer

Immigration law spans a wide range of matter types — from a simple EAD renewal to multi-year removal defense with federal appeals. The legal work, stakes, and time involved vary enormously. Fee ranges also reflect the attorney's experience, credentials, and track record. Comparing an immigration attorney's fee to a document preparer is not apples-to-apples — only a licensed attorney can represent you in court.

Question 11

How long does it take to complete my case?

Accepted Answer

Timelines vary widely by case type and government processing speeds. A DACA renewal may take a few months. A family-based green card can take one to several years depending on the visa category and country of birth. Removal defense cases before immigration courts can stretch two to five or more years given current court backlogs. Ahmad will give you a realistic timeline estimate during your consultation.

Question 12

How do I find out the fee for my own case?

Accepted Answer

Schedule a paid consultation with Ahmad Yakzan directly from this site or by calling (813) 335-4938. During that consultation, Ahmad reviews your specific facts, answers your legal questions, and gives you a firm fee quote for representation. There is no obligation to retain after the consultation.

Question 13

Is my information kept confidential?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Information you send through this site is used only to respond to you and to prepare for your consultation. It is not sold or shared with third parties. Communications with the office for the purpose of a potential attorney-client relationship are protected under applicable professional conduct rules.

Question 14

Can I rely on this site for immigration legal advice?

Accepted Answer

This site provides general fee information, not legal advice. It does not analyze your eligibility for any immigration benefit, predict an outcome, or substitute for an attorney's judgment. Immigration law is highly fact-specific, and the consequences of errors — including removal from the United States — can be permanent. Use this site to understand the typical cost of representation, then speak with Ahmad for actual legal guidance.

Question 15

Do I need an attorney or can I do this myself?

Accepted Answer

You have the legal right to represent yourself in immigration proceedings. However, immigration law is one of the most complex areas of U.S. law — federal courts have called it second only to tax law in complexity. Mistakes can result in denial, bars to reapplying, or deportation. For matters involving removal, criminal history, or federal court, professional legal representation is strongly advisable.

Question 16

What is a paid consultation and what does it include?

Accepted Answer

A paid consultation with Ahmad Yakzan is a substantive legal meeting — typically 45 to 60 minutes — in which Ahmad reviews your documents and facts, identifies your legal options, explains risks and realistic outcomes, and provides a firm fee quote for representation. Consultations are conducted in person at the Temple Terrace office or by phone/video. The consultation fee is credited toward the retainer if you decide to hire Ahmad.

Question 17

How do I know Ahmad Yakzan is qualified?

Accepted Answer

Ahmad Yakzan has been a member of the Florida Bar since 2011 and holds admissions to the U.S. District Courts for the Northern, Middle, and Southern Districts of Florida, the District of Columbia, and the Western District of Texas. He was recognized as a Super Lawyers Rising Star from 2017 to 2020 and is an Amazon #1 Best Selling Author in Legal Education. His practice focuses on immigration law — removal defense, crimmigration, and general immigration.

Question 18

What courts and jurisdictions does Ahmad practice in?

Accepted Answer

Ahmad is admitted to the Florida State Bar and to the U.S. District Courts for the Northern, Middle, and Southern Districts of Florida, the District of Columbia District Court, and the Western District of Texas. He handles cases before EOIR immigration courts, the Board of Immigration Appeals (BIA), the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals, and files federal habeas corpus and mandamus petitions in appropriate district courts.

Question 19

Do you represent clients outside Florida?

Accepted Answer

Ahmad is licensed in Florida and admitted in several federal courts. For federal immigration matters — including BIA appeals, Eleventh Circuit petitions for review, and federal habeas or mandamus actions — geographic location is less of a barrier. Contact the office to discuss whether your specific case falls within Ahmad's court admissions.

Question 20

What if my situation is more complex than most?

Accepted Answer

The fee ranges on this site are intentionally broad to account for complexity. If your situation involves multiple overlapping immigration issues, a significant criminal history, a prior order of removal, or pending federal litigation, the actual fee will likely fall toward the higher end of the range or above it. The paid consultation is the right place to get a firm fee for your specific facts.
